#70 Understanding Changes

I recently attended my AN support group meeting and learned about a new booklet available from the Acoustic Neuroma Association in both electronic or print versions.

Understanding Emotional, Cognitive and Behavioral Changes

 Published: July 08, 2021

The ANA is pleased to offer a new educational booklet as a resource to the AN community to help you understand the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral changes associated with acoustic neuroma.

While there has been a substantial amount of research, information, and education into the physical symptoms that are associated with acoustic neuroma and their impact on daily functioning and quality of life, the psychological and cognitive consequences of AN, and the associated treatments, have only recently begun to receive more attention.

This booklet will provide you with information about what you may be experiencing, and offer strategies to help you manage your symptoms and concerns.

The ANA would like to thank Medical Advisory Board member Megan Sherod, Ph.D., University of Central Florida, and gratefully acknowledge her contributions to this project.

Get your copy today! Our booklets are free to ANA members.

If you are already a member of the Acoustic Neuroma Association, you can view the electronic version or contact to request the print version. If you are not a member, I encourage you to join. One year membership is $45.00

I have mentioned one or two booklets in previous blogs but will repeat all the titles here. They are packed full of information.

  • Improving Balance Associated with Acoustic Neuroma
  • Headache Associated with Acoustic Neuroma Treatment
  • A Glimpse of the Brain
  • Acoustic Neuroma Basic Overview
  • Hearing Loss – Rehabilitation for Acoustic Neuroma Patients
  • Eye Care After AN Surgery
  • Diagnosis Acoustic Neuroma
  • Facial Nerve and ANA
  • Understanding Emotional, Cognitive and Behavioral Changes.

Below is the link for future support group meetings in November and December. Remember – you don’t have to belong to a certain support group to go to their meetings. Most of the meetings are via zoom, but they want you to pre-register. I have never regretted going to a meeting either in-person or on zoom. Why? Because every time I learn something new about this neuroma business.

Dear Heavenly Father, I feel changes in my body with this neuroma. It’s scary. I take comfort in knowing you are the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Amen.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Hebrews 13:8
