Macular Degeneration Foundation
Macular Degeneration Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation. It was founded in 1989 by Edmund J. Alex, a Silicon Valley business man who developed age-related macular degeneration in his mid 70’s. Until his death in 2009 at the age of 94, Ed dedicated his life to raising awareness of a disease that was practically unknown. He began raising money for research and published a newsletter called the MAGNIFIER designed to inform and assist others with low vision to cope with the disease.

Systems of Site
Systems of Sight has been providing help to those suffering from macular degeneration and other central-vision impairments since 1987. Our low vision eyewear has proven to be an effective alternative to the “traditional” low vision aids such as magnifiers and telescopic devices. We have helped thousands that are visually impaired improve their quality of life and regain independence throughout the years.

eSight
eSight is the advanced, innovative digital low-vision device available for people with significant central vision loss. eSight helps people with conditions like macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and 20+ different conditions see better and overcome challenges often faced due to low vision and other visual impairments.

OCUTECH
Distance vision is an important social sense that allows us to make eye contact, read body language, and feel connected to the world around us. Not being able to recognize people at a distance or see the world around you clearly, can make an individual feel isolated, insecure and sometimes even depressed. Ocutech's bioptic low vision aids can provide a transformative experience that enhances both one's vision and one's life.
